It was a big week for the RBA, which got a new Deputy Governor and new legislation implementing the recommendations of the RBA Review.

The new Deputy is the BoE’s Andrew Hauser, who was chosen from four shortlisted candidates: assistant governor Chris Kent and three external candidates. As an outsider with respect to both the Bank and Australia, Hauser will bring much needed perspective to an insular institution and a parochial political system.
